Ricci Rivero Transfers to UP Diliman: Basketball Ace Joins UP Fighting Maroons

Former La Salle star player Ricci Rivero will transfer to the University of the Philippines (UP). Rivero officially announced he will join the UP Fighting Maroons on Twitter thus ending all speculation on where he will play after leaving the De La Salle Green Archers.

“When you’re down, there’s no where to go but UP! ?? DILIMAN here i come! #UPFight” Ricci Rivero wrote in the caption of a photo of himself wearing a University of the Philippines t-shirt.

The announcement sent shock waves in the college basketball community which had been anticipating where the UAAP Season 80 Mythical 5 player would be playing next. There were speculations that Rivero would go to UST where his former mentor, Aldin Ayo, transferred. The buzz grew even louder after former teammate, Brent Paraiso, transferred to the UST Growling Tigers last week.

Rivero will start playing for UP in season 82, that’s next year, after sitting out the coming season due to UAAP transfer rules.
