Carrie Fisher died at the age of 60 after a massive heart attack while on a transatlantic flight home before Christmas. Fisher’s family released the following statement on her death in behalf of her daughter, Billie:

Carrie Fisher has been in intensive care following the heart attack while on a flight from London where she promoted her latest book. In a statement, her brother said she was in critical condition at the time. However, Carrie’s mother, Debbie Reynolds, said Fisher was in stable condition but still in intensive care Sunday.

‘Carrie is in stable condition. If there is a change, we will share it. For all her fans and friends, I thank you for your prayers and good wishes,’ the veteran actress posted on Twitter.

Although she played dozens of roles throughout her film career, Carrie Fisher is most known, and well-loved, for playing Princess Leia Organa in the ‘Star Wars’ film series.
