VIDEO Cebuana Janine Berdin Wins Tawag ng Tanghalan Season 2

Janine Berdin is the new Tawag ng Tanghalan champion. The 16-year old Cebuana (yes, she’s only 16!) wowed the judges with her Bamboo rock medley to emerge as the second winner of Tawag ng Tanghalan on It’s Showtime. Last year, Noven Belleza was the winner.

Janine Berdin is no stranger to competitions at ABS CBN. She previously joined Tawag ng Tanghalan in season 1 but failed. Janine also tried her luck in The Voice Kids PH and Star Circle Quest: Search for the Next Kiddie Superstars 4 but also came up empty although she made it through to the semis. This time, however, Berdin’s raspy voice came through for her as she made it all the way to the championship.

But it was also her raspy voice that made he doubt her chances. Early on as she joined various competitions to fulfill her dream of making it big as a singer, many told her that her voice isn’t fit for stardom. But Janine persevered. The rest is history.

Coming in second and third, respectively, were Ato Arman from Mindanao and Steven Paysu from the US. We initially thought it was Paysu who would win coming into the final 3. But when Janine Berdin delivered her Bamboo medley and brought the house down, there was no mistaking the young Cebuana would win.

Berdin took home the P2-million grand prize, a management contract from ABS CBN and a house and lot from Camella (with no less than Senator Cynthia Villar presenting it to her) among other prizes.
