The fight broke out in the third quarter of the FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifying game. With Australia leading 79-48, Gilas player Roger Pogoy and Australian Chris Goulding got entangled during a play.

Australia’s Daniel Kickert then hit Pogoy. This was followed by Jayson Castro’s retaliation and then all hell broke loose.

Gilas Pilipinas players were seen running after several Australians as the Philippine Arena crowed shouted and cheered. Video shows several players trading punches as officials tried to control the situation.

After the smoke cleared, nine Filipino players were kicked out of the game: Terrence Romeo, Carl Bryan Cruz, Jayson Castro, Calvin Abueva, Andray Blatche, Roger Pogoy, Troy Rosario, Japeth Aguilar and Matthew Wright.

This left only three Gilas players to finish the game. Eventually, June Mar Fajardo and Gabe Norwood committed intentional fouls to get ejected as well.

The game ended with still about two minutes in the third quarter, 89-53 for Australia.
