VIDEO Pinay Janine Pontejos Wins Gold in 2018 FIBA 3×3 World Cup Shootout

Perlas Pilipinas may not have had the result it wanted in the 2018 FIBA 3×3 World Cup but Janine Pontejos gave Pinoys something to be proud of. Pontejos won the gold medal in the FIBA 3×3 Shootout Final on Tuesday.

Janine Pontejos released a cluster of three-point bombs to earn 14 points in the shootout final round. The Centro Escolar University player sent the crowd cheering especially after nailing eight straight baskets.

Pontejos was actually tied with Russian player Alexandra Stolyar after the final round. However, despite having identical 14 points, the Filipina was named the winner because she had the faster time.

Pontejos finished the shootout in 41.86 seconds while the Russian had a time of 49.9 seconds.

Croatia’s Marin Hrvoje claimed the bronze with 11 points.
