Pinoy Basketball fans were kept out of the Philippines vs Qatar game for the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asia Qualifying Round. As a result, Filipinos were glued to the TV broadcast and live streams of Gilas Pilipinas vs Qatar game. Gilas kept its composure to win with a score of 92-81.

The closed-door games is one of the conditions of FIBA following Gilas Pilipinas’ brawl with Australia a couple of months back. And with no home crowd to cheer for them in the almost empty arena, the Team Pilipinas seemed somewhat bewildered during the first half.

On the contrary, Qatar came out firing at the tip-off and easily maintained its lead in the first half. However, Gilas adjusted to the conditions and managed to get its rhythm.

Japeth Aguilar and Alex Cabagnot led Gilas with 16 points each, while Pringle contributed 13 points and six rebounds.

The win puts the Philippines in 3rd spot in Group F. Its next game will be against Kazakhstan in November. The top three teams in the group will qualify for the 2019 World Cup.
